Apps have exploded in popularity and can do almost anything. They have become go-to tools for helmsmen. I spend a lot of time offshore, and one thing I’m always watching is the wind forecast, and a solid wind-forecast app can be a tripsaver. There are many good options. One of my colleagues is a big fan of PredictWind. The reports are wicked accurate. I have used SailFlow for a few years now, and find that it’s spot on to the hour most days. Whether you’re planning an extended bluewater cruise or are an ardent tournament angler, the wind-forecast app is a small investment that pays big dividends in smooth sailing.
