There was a time when a small dome radar couldn’t pack much punch, but the Garmin Fantom 18x and 24x dome radars put that time behind us. These solid-state units use 50 watts of power to see out to 48 miles. Yet all that capability fits into an 18- or 24-inch radome. Just as surprising, these Fantoms feature many of the functions often seen on larger, more expensive units, such as (MotionScope) Doppler-effect target color-coding, echo trails, auto bird gain, dynamic sea filter, radar overlay and more.
